Legend of the Blue Sea

It’s almost here! Who is excited for Lee Min-Ho’s comeback in dramaland? Obviously I am! Because if you haven’t noticed yet, I’m updating this blog after three years just for the love of Lee Min Ho. Teehee.

Legend of the Blue Sea is a story about a genius con artist (I guess kinda like Leonardo DiCaprio in Catch Me If You Can) meets and falls in love to a mermaid struggling to acclimate in the human world. Starring Lee Min-Ho (Heirs, Faith) and Jun Ji-Hyun (My Love From the Star, My Sassy Girl), Legend of the Sea premieres November 16.

Lol This is making me all giddy and excited! Can’t wait for October. 🙂

JT <3

Miley Cyrus was maybe the most talked about performer in this year’s MTV’s Video Music Awards because of the crass antic she pulled onscreen alongside Robin Thicke, but for me it was Justin Timberlake that made the VMA’s worth watching. And oh for the love of 90’s boy bands, the Nsync’s reunion was just perfect. Totally made my day! Err.. or night! Whatever floats your boat!

Pardon the quality of the videos though.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Trailer

The wait is almost over. Soon it’ll be November and the much anticipated sequel to the Hunger Games series is upon our viewing pleasure! *cue evil laugh*

Pardon the craziness. :p I’m just excited, you see. Anyway my favorite part in the teaser? Katniss’ wedding dress (lol) turning into a beautiful mockingjay dress (well done Cinna!), Gale and Katniss’ kiss (Team Gale!), and shirtless Finnick Odair (Eeep! Yes. Yum! Hahaha). What about you? 😀

Korean Drama: Cinderella’s Sister

Korean Drama, Cinderella, Sister, Moon Geun Young

Cinderella’s Sister tells the story of Eun Jo whose mother had several affairs with different men and it was those unfortunate ties that forced them to live a life like runaway thieves every time her mother’s past caught up with them. Until one day, her mother met a young “princess” whose father was a rich widower. The daughter, Hyo Sun, grew up without a mom and so she desperately seeks a mother’s love. And Eun-jo’s mom, being as devious as she needs to be, she used Hyo Sun’s lack of motherly love to entice her rich father into marrying her. Eun-jo’s mom succeeded. Eventually, Eun Jo’s mom became the new mistress of the rich man’s household and as for Eun Jo, a new chapter of her life story has began as she accepts the role of the father’s new daughter and “Cinderella’s” new sister.

Korean Dramarathon #1

Korean Dramas, Arang and the Magistrate, Padam Padam, The Painter of the Wind, Bad Love

  1. Arang and the Magistrate
Starring Lee Joon Ki and Shin Min Ah. A paranormal sort of love affair between an amnesiac ghost who was reborn as an immortal with expiration date (LOL) and a government official who has an uncanny ability to see the invisible — think I-see-dead-people kind of ability =P.I enjoyed this drama. It wasn’t perfect but I liked it nevertheless. It’s nice to learn about the Korean beliefs on afterlife in a very entertaining way. Acting-wise, the actors did well and I appreciate the fact that Lee Joon Ki does most of his action stunts. 🙂 One obvious amiss though, prolly an editing error, there’s this scene inside the cave where you see a glimpse of a steel ladder which evidently should not be existing during those olden days. Heehee.
  2. Padam Padam… The Sound of His and Her Heartbeats
Starring Jung Woo Sung, Han Ji Min and Kim Bum. Tells the story of an ex-con who gets another shot at life not only once but thrice thanks to a man claiming to be his guardian angel. This drama felt like a very long movie to me. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not. Lol. I love that it has that movie-ish look and feel but at the same time I kept on wondering when it’ll be over. Lol. The story dragged at some point but that didn’t stop me from watching. Actually, there are a lot of things I liked about this drama — The cinematography was amazing. The actors performed so good acting-wise, you’ll feel a tug on your heartstrings. The beautifully written lines/dialogues that’ll get you into thinking. And let’s not forget the bromance which I think was the thing I liked and loved most about this drama.
  3. The Painter of the Wind
Starring Moon Geun-young and Park Shin Yang. Tells the story of a young talented woman disguised as a man to pursue a career as painter in a time where women weren’t allowed to take any profession and a genius painter who took her under his wings not knowing her real identity.I enjoyed this drama despite the obvious age difference between the leads. Surprisingly, the two main leads actually have an on screen chemistry that works. And boy, Moon Guen-young sure did a superb job acting as the cross-dresser Yoon Bok. Love her! I’m definitely a fan. 🙂 The ending was a bit of a let down though. It could’ve been a happy one but why end it like that. Sigh.
  4. Bad Love
Starring Kwon Sang Woo, Lee Yo Won and Kim Sung Soo. Tells the complicated love story of a woman torn between two men — a married man and a man who just got out from a very traumatic relationship. This drama started out good. The story was controversial so I was hooked immediately. Then suddenly it got boring. I kept watching though because I love Kwon Sang Woo and his acting was commendable. But eventually, I still got tired of the never-ending push and pull sort of relationship between the leads that I decided to skipped several episodes and just watched the final episode. The story dragged on far too long that I just really want to get over with it. At least, the drama ended on a happy note.

Channing All Over Your Tatum

HILARIOUS. Confusing but hilarious. I mean, wtf (pardon my french =P) is Channing all over your Tatum??? Did the people behind this video just sexualize Channing Tatum’s name? LOL. Someone please watch the video and explain to me what’s really happening here and why Jamie Foxx, Jimmy Kimmel and even Miley Cyrus singing about Channing all over your Tatum. And oh is that Matt Damon at the end of the video?

The Vampire Diaries: Poor Stefan T_T

[start fangirl rant] I need a distraction! I still can’t get over to tonight’s season finale episode of The Vampire Diaries. I’ve always been a  Team Delena but I just can’t help feeling heartbroken for Stefan. I mean, why??? He already lost his epic love to his brother and now he’s become Silas’ shadow — meaning he needs to spend his vampire life underwater trapped inside a metal coffin. Poor Stefan. *sigh* [/end fangirl rant]

Gentleman

Okay. So Psy has a new music video out and personally I don’t think this video will surpass the humongous success of Gangnam Style. Feels like, Gentleman has nothing new to offer and it’s like Gangnam style all over again only the beat has changed. You can even see a touch of the Gangnam Style dance moves in the dance choreography of Gentleman. But then, the numbers/hits are looking good though for Gentleman. Since its release on Saturday, April 13, the video already have a total of 128,527,717 views on youtube as of this writing. So I guess, we just have to wait and see if Psy’s Gentleman is yet another internet phenomena in the making.

TMI: City of Bones Full Trailer

So here’s a full trailer to a yet another fandom that is not Twilight. Lol. Not that I’m saying TMI is better than Twilight. I mean they pretty much belong to the same paranormal romance genre whatever with all the supernatural abilities, vampires and wolves thing, only TMI has a much broader universe because it also involves gods, angels, fairies, demons, warlocks, witches, shapeshifters and shadowhunters.

That’s a lot to take in huh? That’s exactly how I felt when I started reading the series. I was overwhelmed with the number of characters and species (?) in the TMI universe. Eventually though, you’ll get a hang of it and you’ll just find yourself losing sleep because you can’t just stop reading. That’s what happened to me. Heehee.

Anywho, I really rather not compare TMI with Twilight because they’re completely different albeit having sorta similar plot and albeit belonging to the same genre (and to also not to offend any fandoms harhar).

Based on Cassandra Clare’s novel with the same title, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones starring Lilly Collins, Jaime Campbell Bower and Robert Sheehan will be out on theaters this coming August 23. Watch the full trailer below.
