For the First time is probably the most awaited Philippine movie of the year. As there are many “firsts” behind this movie just like what the title says.

For the First Time is KC Concepcion’s first movie. Also, this is the first time the viewing public will see the first ever team up of Richard Guttierez and KC Concepcion. And everybody knows that Richard Guttierez is GMA 7’s contract star while KC Concepcion just recently signed an exclusive contract to GMA 7’s rival network, ABS-CBN. So this is definitely the first time, that Philippines’ rival tv network had joined forced and let their hottest talents team up in a movie.

For the First Time is directed by Joyce Bernal and it will be out on August 27, 2008 in Philippine cinemas nationwide.

Jennylyn Mercado gives birth to a healthy baby boy

August 16 at around 8:00 to 9:00 in the evening, young actress Jennylyn Mercado gave birth to a healthy baby boy via ceasarian section at St. Luke’s Hospital in Quezon City.

The said news was confirmed by Jennylyn Mercado’s manager Becky Aguila through a text message sent to Showbiz Central.

The baby weighs 8.12 pounds and according to Jennylyn’s manager both the baby and the mother are doing fine, though for the mean time, Jennylyn requested for some privacy. So no statement yet coming from the young mom.

Ellen DeGeneres marries Portia de Rossi

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and girlfriend Portia de Rossi got married tonight at their Los Angeles home.

Reportedly, the couples exchanged of vows was attended by a total of 19 guests and that includes Ellen’s mom Betty and Portia’s mom Margaret.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi started dating in 2004 and Ellen first announced her plan to marry girlfriend in May after the ban for gay marriage in California has been lifted.

Bunny Malunda expelled from Pinoy Dream Academy

Bunny Malunda bids her fellow academians farewell as she was the latest Pinoy Dream Academy aspirant to be expelled from the said show.  Bunny received 39.65% of the votes while Sen Nichols received  60.35% of the votes.

As for the star scholar of the week, Laarni Losala got the most coveted title besting last week’s star scholar Jay “Bugoy” Bogayan  and honorary scholar Poy Palma.

Francis M. suffers from leukemia

TV-host, singer and actor, Francis Magalona was diagnosed with leukemia and he’s now in need of blood donors.

This news was also confirmed by the his Eat Bulaga Family. Before the Itaktak Mo segment of Eat Bulaga starts, Vic Sotto read a text message sent by Francis M. In the message, Francis M. broke the news of his illness and asked the support of the televiewers. He ended his message by promising to the televiewers that he’ll surely return to Eat Bulaga and grace our television once more.

Reportedly, Francis M. is currently confined at The Medical City in Pasig City. Also, a blood donation drive for him was organized by friends and relatives at the ground level of the said hospital.

Anne Curtis’ Dyosa Trailer

Dyosa (Goddess) tells the story of a young girl named Josephine, who unbeknown to her that she’s really a Dyosa — a descendant of Mariang Sinukuan and Bernardo Carpio and is destined to rule the world of the upper gods. For years, she has been living the life of a mortal. But on her 18th birthday, she discovers the secret of her origin. A Satyr (half-man half-goat) appears before and told her who she really is and that she needs to return to save the world of the gods and goddesses as it is in great peril. Now Josephine is torn between saving the dying world of the upper gods and loving the man she loves. What will she choose? Will she give up immortality and power to be with her one great love or will she live up to her destiny and save the world of the upper gods.

Dyosa features Kapamily stars, Anne Curtis, Sam Milby, Zanjoe Marudo and Luis Manzano. Dyosa is ABS-CBN’s upcoming fantaserye and it will have it’s primetime telecast on Monday, August 11, 2008.

Philippine TV Ratings: July 29-31

Nothing much had changed as far as Mega Manila Ratings is concern. The Kapuso Network still dominates the top half of the chart and the next half belongs to the team Kapamilya.

In the Daytime race GMA 7 shows, Magdusa Ka, Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan, Eat Bulaga and Daisy Siete fought over the top four positions while ABS-CBN show Wowowee remain constant on the fifth position which is by far was Team Kapamilya’s top rater show in the daytime race.

Meanwhile in the Primetime period, Marian Rivera’s Dyesebel is consistent on the number 1 position. And Richard Gutierrez and Heart Evangelista’s Asero come into second place. Other Kapuso shows that made it on the top 5 positions are Regine Velasquez’s My Name is Kim Sam Soon and Mel Tiangco’s 24 Oras. As for the Kapamilya shows, The Singing Bee, TV Patrol World and IIsa pa Lamang played over the fifth, sixth and seventh position.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

As Harry Potter begins his 6th year at Hogwarts, he and Albus Dumbledore embarks into an unusual journey to the past in hopes to discover and unveils the secret of the Dark Lord’s horcruxes.

Also, in this movie tells the story of the Half-Blood Prince, whose potion book reached the hands of Harry Potter. Having the Half-Blood Prince’s book in his possession, the boy who lived suddenly had an exceptional talent in mixing potions and that entitles him a privilege to be included in Professor Slughorn’s elite club of selected few talented students.

Reportedly (by Box Office Mojo), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is scheduled to be released on November 21, 2008.
