Celebrity Duets returns on television with eight new non-singing celebrities and each will be paired to a professional singer. The Celebrity contenders were officially introduced last August 20 at the GMA Network Center.

The eight new Celebrity Duets’ contenders are the following

• MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando
• Beauty Expert Cory Quirino
• Actor/Comedian and ex-Mayor Joey Marquez
• Model/Beauty Queen Melanie Marquez
• Chef and former co-host in QTV’s Ka-Toque JL Cang
• Former Bb. Pilipinas World Carlene Aguilar
• Fil-British Professional Soccer player Phil Younhusband
• Fashion Designer JC Buendia

Celebrity Duets Philippines will be hosted by on and off cam sweethearts Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid. And this season’s panel of judges are Danny Tan, Freddie Santos and Tessa Prieto-Valdes. Celebrity Duets Philippines starts on August 23.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe was reportedly suffers from a mild form of brain disorder called dyspraxia.

Dyspraxia is a neurological disorder that usually affects motor coordination and impairs the person’s normal learning process. But in case of Daniel Radcliffe, it’s no serious matter. His is just a mild kind of dyspraxia and at worst time it only impairs his ability to tie his shoe laces and affects his handwriting.

Daniel Radcliffe says his illness lead him to persue an acting career.

Finally, Betty La Fea’s Armando Solis is secret no more and it’s no other than John Lloyd Cruz. Yay! =)

John Lloyd is probably the only reason why I’m watching this series. *heh* I mean he’s such a great actor and I love him when he cries. It’s like you can really feel whatever emotions he’s trying to project. Heartfelt! Though I don’t think he’ll ever cry at I Love Betty La Fea. I think I Love Betty La Fea is more like a comedy-drama series. Hmmm… Oh well, atleast we’ll be able to see a different side of John Lloyd Cruz.

I Love Betty La Fea is ABS-CBN’s upcoming primetime series and it’s a local version of Fernando Gaitán’s hit series Yo Soy Betty, la fea which was first aired in Columbia.

Local casts of I Love Betty La Fea includes, Bea Alonzo, Vhong Navarro, Ruffa Guttierez and John Lloyd Cruz.

Gretchen Espina of Biliran is the winner of the recently concluded Pinoy Idol outshining Jayann Bautista of Pampanga in the final showdown where both Gretchen and Jayann sang their personal rendition of this season’s so-called “coronation song” entitled “To You”. The said song was composed by the Singer/Songwriter and Pinoy Idol judge Ogie Alcasid and was arraged by Danny Tan.

Meanwhile, Ram Chaves (one of the top 3 finalists), was eliminated from the said show just before the final showdown to give way to the final face-off between Gretchen Espina and Jayann Bautista.

In the end, it’s Gretchen Espina who won the Pinoy Idol title as she got the highest number of text votes. Also, she brought home a total of 5.7 million pesos worth of prizes. And that includes a 1 million pesos in cash, a recording contract from SonyBMG Records, a management contract with GMA Artist Center, a brand new car, and a house-and-lot from Avida.

Pinoy Idol is a local Idol franchise of the hit reality talent show series, Pop Idol, which was  first aired in United Kingdom and created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller.

For the First time is probably the most awaited Philippine movie of the year. As there are many “firsts” behind this movie just like what the title says.

For the First Time is KC Concepcion’s first movie. Also, this is the first time the viewing public will see the first ever team up of Richard Guttierez and KC Concepcion. And everybody knows that Richard Guttierez is GMA 7’s contract star while KC Concepcion just recently signed an exclusive contract to GMA 7’s rival network, ABS-CBN. So this is definitely the first time, that Philippines’ rival tv network had joined forced and let their hottest talents team up in a movie.

For the First Time is directed by Joyce Bernal and it will be out on August 27, 2008 in Philippine cinemas nationwide.

August 16 at around 8:00 to 9:00 in the evening, young actress Jennylyn Mercado gave birth to a healthy baby boy via ceasarian section at St. Luke’s Hospital in Quezon City.

The said news was confirmed by Jennylyn Mercado’s manager Becky Aguila through a text message sent to Showbiz Central.

The baby weighs 8.12 pounds and according to Jennylyn’s manager both the baby and the mother are doing fine, though for the mean time, Jennylyn requested for some privacy. So no statement yet coming from the young mom.

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and girlfriend Portia de Rossi got married tonight at their Los Angeles home.

Reportedly, the couples exchanged of vows was attended by a total of 19 guests and that includes Ellen’s mom Betty and Portia’s mom Margaret.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi started dating in 2004 and Ellen first announced her plan to marry girlfriend in May after the ban for gay marriage in California has been lifted.

Bunny Malunda bids her fellow academians farewell as she was the latest Pinoy Dream Academy aspirant to be expelled from the said show.  Bunny received 39.65% of the votes while Sen Nichols received  60.35% of the votes.

As for the star scholar of the week, Laarni Losala got the most coveted title besting last week’s star scholar Jay “Bugoy” Bogayan  and honorary scholar Poy Palma.
