Laarni Losala is PDA’s 2nd Grand Star Dreamer

After 13 weeks of rigorous voice training and nerve-racking gala nights, 22 year-old Laarni Losala of Sultan Kudarat was proclaimed Grand Star Dreamer of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2.

Laarni Losala or now Laarni Lozada, took the highest number of text votes adding up to 651,696 or 35.21% of the total text votes. It’s certainly Laarni Lozada’s night, as she is now a million pesos richer plus she brings home a Suzuki Swift car, Crystal Clear franchise and a condominium unit at GA Towers along EDSA courtesy of Pinoy Dream Academy’s sponsors.

Meanwhile, 18-year old Bugoy Bogayan of Camarines Sur, who by the way is now called Bugoy Drilon, was hailed Pinoy Dream Academy’s 2nd Star Dreamer. Bugoy Drilon garnered 549,760 or 29.70% of the total text votes.

Completing the rankings of the scholars is as follows; Pinoy Dream Academy’s 3rd Star Dreamer is 18-year old Miguel Mendoza of Muntinlupa who took 253,412 or 13.69% of the total text votes. PDA’s 4th Star Dreamer is 23-year old Liezel Garcia of Puerto Galera who garnered 247,346 or 13.36% of the total votes. PDA’s 5th and 6th Star Scholars are 18 year-old Van Roxas of Cebu and 21 year-old Cris Pastor of Parañaque. Fifth winner Van Roxas garnered 112,065 or 6.06% ot the total text votes while 6th winner Cris Pastor garnered 36,487 or 1.97% of the total text votes.

Congratulations to all Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Top 6 Scholars. Despite the rankings, I believe they truly are all winners. =)

Sen and Van are this week’s Probationary Pinoy Dream Academy Scholars

Sen Nichols and Van Pojas’ Pinoy Dream Academy journey is now put into test. Both got the lowest rating from this week’s celebrity duet special. Sen Nichols got a grade of 7.29 while Van Pojas got a grade of 7.30.

Who do you think the crowd will save this time? Who among Sen and Van deseves a second chance to stay inside the Pinoy Dream Academy?

Inaki leaves Pinoy Dream Academy, Bugoy Star Scholar of the Week

Inaki Salvador’s Pinoy Dream Academy journey has ended while Miguel Mendoza was saved once more by the viewing public via text votes.

Inaki Salvador got 24.03% of the total votes and Miguel received 75.97% of the total votes. And that clearly shows that crowd favors Miguel Salvador over Inaki Salvador.

Meanwhile, Bugoy Bugayon proved once again his exceptional singing prowess as he was this week’s star scholar. Bugoy received an impressive 9.81 rating from the PDA’s jury and mentors.

GMA 7′s Celebrity Duets Contenders

Celebrity Duets returns on television with eight new non-singing celebrities and each will be paired to a professional singer. The Celebrity contenders were officially introduced last August 20 at the GMA Network Center.

The eight new Celebrity Duets’ contenders are the following

Beauty Expert Cory Quirino
Actor/Comedian and ex-Mayor Joey Marquez
Model/Beauty Queen Melanie Marquez
Chef and former co-host in QTV’s Ka-Toque JL Cang

Fashion Designer JC Buendia

Celebrity Duets Philippines will be hosted by on and off cam sweethearts Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid. And this season’s panel of judges are Danny Tan, Freddie Santos and Tessa Prieto-Valdes. Celebrity Duets Philippines starts on August 23.

Gretchen Espina wins Pinoy Idol

Gretchen Espina of Biliran is the winner of the recently concluded Pinoy Idol outshining Jayann Bautista of Pampanga in the final showdown where both Gretchen and Jayann sang their personal rendition of this season’s so-called “coronation song” entitled “To You”. The said song was composed by the Singer/Songwriter and Pinoy Idol judge Ogie Alcasid and was arraged by Danny Tan.

Meanwhile, Ram Chaves (one of the top 3 finalists), was eliminated from the said show just before the final showdown to give way to the final face-off between Gretchen Espina and Jayann Bautista.

In the end, it’s Gretchen Espina who won the Pinoy Idol title as she got the highest number of text votes. Also, she brought home a total of 5.7 million pesos worth of prizes. And that includes a 1 million pesos in cash, a recording contract from SonyBMG Records, a management contract with GMA Artist Center, a brand new car, and a house-and-lot from Avida.

Pinoy Idol is a local Idol franchise of the hit reality talent show series, Pop Idol, which was first aired in United Kingdom and created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller.

Bunny Malunda expelled from Pinoy Dream Academy

Bunny Malunda bids her fellow academians farewell as she was the latest Pinoy Dream Academy aspirant to be expelled from the said show. Bunny received 39.65% of the votes while Sen Nichols received 60.35% of the votes.

As for the star scholar of the week, Laarni Losala got the most coveted title besting last week’s star scholar Jay “Bugoy” Bogayan and honorary scholar Poy Palma.

Ramiele Malubay on American Idol

American Idol announced the 24 finalists just last night but names of the 24 finalists been out in the world wide web for quite some time now. Well apparently, somebody leaked some photos from the American Idol Finalists photoshoot. So it’s no surprised for me that Florida-based Filipina Ramiele Malubay was among the 24 finalists vying to be the next American Idol.

Anyway really looking forward to this season of American Idol, I mean at least I have someone to cheer for. *heh*

And oh, too bad Josiah didn’t made the cut. I’d love to see more of him. Just so you know, Josiah is that kid who has been living in his car for almost a year now.

Reynaldo Lapuz on American Idol

Have you heard of a man named Reynaldo Lapuz? If you haven’t then you probably still living under rocks where the words television and American Idol are unheard of. Lol. Why Reynaldo Lapuz is just the next big thing after William Hung! Well cut that next big thing crap, because I think, Access Hollywood had just labeled him the new William Hung. Anyhow, his song We Are Brothers Forever was ridiculously awesome it even made Randy and Paula danced. Oh and Simon, well he surely did enjoy the performance. I mean, Reynaldo Lapuz is his number one fan and the song We Are Brothers Forever was made especially for him. *heh* Certainly a laugh-out-loud moment for American Idol.

Winners of Amazing Race 12

Dating couple Rachel and TK won the twelfth season of the Amazing Race while the Father/Daughter tandem of Ronald and Christina and the Grandson/Grandfather team of Nicolas and Donald came in second and third, respectively.

It was a tight race between the dating couple and the father/daughter team. Ronald and Christina had a good start. They were always the first team to get the first clue. And had it not been Rachel got the last road block first, Ronald and Christina would have been the winners of the famous race around the world.

As for Nicolas and Donald, well I think, they too, did a good job though they came in last, considering that they have to return back to where their first clue and be able to catch up with Rachel and TK (they have to come back because they forgot to bring the plastic bag that contains materials that was needed to complete the detour task). And having Donald as the oldest person to ever reach the final leg of the Amazing Race, that only proves that anyone, regardless of age, can pretty much take the grueling task of racing around the world.

Komedyanteng Promdi is Kuya’s Big Winner

Ruben Gonzaga was hailed Big Winner of PBB Celebrity Edition 2. Finally a male big winner eh? I still prefer Riza though. Anyway the Desirable Diva bagged the Second Big Placer award. While Gaby and Will were announced the Third and Fourth Big Placer, respectively.

This definitely a dream come true for the Komedyanteng Promdi. He now owns a new condominium and a business franchise worth P2,000,000 . And he’s also a P2,000,000 richer by now. Wow, that’s indeed a blessing, what a great way to begin the year of the rat.

Oh well, Congratulations to Ruben! Just don’t forget to count your blessings and spend your winnings well. *heh*
